In Matthew 16:24 Jesus said (to His disciples) "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me." (NASB)
A.B. Bruce states "But these truths are much lost sight of in peaceful, prosperous times...of this cross we are determined to know nothing. What can it mean, or whence it can come, they cannot comprehend, because they have no need of it..."

These "artificial crosses" are invented each day by people who claim to be "Christians." Us. Folks, we don't give half as much as we should for our Savior. We treat our bosses at work better than Him. In the meantime, we use excuses for things we do and say and try to blame our pain because of "Satanic" oppression, when we are the culprits of our own anguish.
